Pooki’s Mahi, a Silicon Valley startup single serve coffee manufacturer of custom promotional products and private label Kona coffee single serve pods announced today it replaced all tea suppliers for not meeting Pooki’s Mahi’s score card on quality, manufacturing capabilities and culture fit.
Pooki’s Mahi has a very lengthy process to assess suppliers and vendors to support new product lines like its expansion of Pooki’s Mahi’s Kona coffee single serve pods or the upcoming single serve tea pods. Immediate return on investment (ROI), consistency, and how easy Pooki’s Mahi’s distributors fulfillment centers receive products like Pooki’s Mahi’s 100% Kona coffee single serve pods are important. Mistakes and slowing down Pooki’s Mahi’s operations or supply chain teams are not favorable to the supplier.
Pooki’s Mahi’s Founder/CEO Les Magsalay-Zeller explains, “Pilots are end-to-end tests widely used by manufacturing organizations in high tech corporations. Pooki’s Mahi’s pilot will test the entire supply chain platforms and systems by simulating customer orders, obtaining product feedback while improving the single serve teas for the tea pods variety packs. What makes Pooki’s Mahi’s pilot tests unique is that the high tech (manufacturing) methodology is used for a low-tech product (food and beverage). Customer and supply chain feedback are incorporated before the next pilot test begins or an official new product introduction launch.”
The Silicon Valley high tech executive says, “Once a product line is launched Pooki’s Mahi immediately measures key performance indicators every quarter to determine how early to retire or replace products in the product line. There are two reasons to prune existing product lines. First, the products’ sales performance is not where it needs to be and falls short on expectation. Second, the supplier or supply chain ecosystem cannot support pilot, sales and go-to-market activities. For the first reason existing customers provided valuable feedback on Pooki’s Mahi’s entire single serve tea(s) pods catalogue. For the second reason partnerships with suppliers work bi-directionally. If multiple communications are needed from Pooki’s Mahi’s team members to obtain an update, then the partnership serves the supplier only.”
Pooki’s Mahi regularly measures suppliers monthly, quarterly and yearly to ensure firms consistently perform. Pooki’s Mahi spent over two years gathering feedback from existing customers and approved suppliers in its own supply chain. Pooki’s Mahi terminates suppliers that perform poorly or run negative campaigns through product reviews, blogging or affiliate marketing.
Pooki’s Mahi kicked off an assessment to replace poor performing suppliers in 2015. The new tea supplier and master tea blenders are based in the West Coast to source and blend teas for Pooki’s Mahi’s new artisinal tea single serves. The goal is to provide high quality single serve tea flavors with unique aromas at a modest price to existing and new customers.
The new tea supplier is participating in Pooki’s Mahi’s tea single serve pods pilot assessments. There are several specific goals Pooki’s Mahi’s pilot test(s) aims to accomplish. The first goal is to confirm single serve tea flavors and ingredients list. The second goal is to finalize the Keurig teas profiles for the custom single serves promotional products and private label single serve pods.
