Pooki’s Mahi announced today it expanded its partnership with Cafejo to launch the Single Serve product line with 100% Kona coffee cups (Regular, Decaf) as its first products while providing jobs for the developmentally disabled. Pooki’s Mahi extended the partnership to My Cup Counts, a non-profit organization to create minimum wage jobs for workers to count, sort, package and label Pooki’s Mahi’s Single Serve product line.

My Cup Counts collaborates with the Orange County Adult Achievement Center in Anaheim to help the developmentally disabled workers find opportunities. My Cup Counts is an organization ideated by Patrick Rolfes, Owner/CEO of Cafejo to solve a common problem: how to augment existing workforce when the business is thriving without breaking the budget. Rather than hire more staff, Pat decided to create another organization and pay it forward within the community. The partnership adds another workforce. On average My Cup Counts clients packages 10,000 pounds of coffee a day.

“The Request For Proposal (RFP) for the (100% Kona Coffee) Single Serve product line pilot started with 24 potential manufacturers. We narrowed the list to three vendors based on minimum requirements, quality to price ratio, location and ability to execute against Pooki’s Mahi’s schedule. We selected Cafejo for the 100% Kona Coffee products and another manufacturer for its 97% eco-friendly sustainable design to handle Pooki’s Mahi’s award-winning teas,” says Pooki’s Mahi’s Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller.

She continues, “Cafejo was also selected because the company shares Pooki’s Mahi strong ‘Pay It Forward’ philosophy. Pooki’s Mahi gives back to Silicon Valley through charities and outreach in various high tech communities. Most recently we’ve expanded our outreach to the military. Through a partnership My Cup Counts provides jobs to the developmentally challenged in the local community.
