Coconut
Coconuts are technically fruits because it refers to a seed that falls from the coconut palm tree.  The inside of the coconut is full of water and white edible coconut flesh.  Coconuts are often harvested for the coconut water, copra (dried white edible coconut flesh) to produce oil and milk.  The coconut and milk are also manufactured into cooking oil, frying, soaps and cosmetics.  A full size coconut weighs approximately 3.2 lbs.  6000 full grown coconuts are needed to produce 1 ton of copra.  Coconuts are grown in countries near the equator. The consistent warm weather and rainfall makes it easier to grow and harvest coconut plantations. Coconuts are grown and harvested with very little water in Hawaii, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Most of the world’s coconut production is in Asia.  Indonesia, Philippines and India grow 73% of the world’s coconut crop.  The top coconut producers as of 2013 according to Wikipedia are:

2. Philippines - 15.3 tons
3. India - 11.9 tons
4. Brazil - 2.9 tons
5. Sri Lanka - 2.5 tons

Nutritional Value and Food Allergies in Island Coconuts
According to Wikipedia and nutritional database the white raw coconut meat contains high amounts of total fat at 33%, saturated fat (89% of the total fat) and 24 grams of carbohydrates.  

Proteins in coconuts when for food drinks or meals may cause food allergies.  The worse case of food allergies is anaphylaxis.  In the US per the FDA an allergy statement must be included in food packaging.

Pooki’s Mahi island coconut single serve cups are made from a combination of 100% Kona coffee beans harvested from Kona, Big Island and roasted with Latin America and South America coffee beans.  10% Kona coffee beans and 90% Central and South American coffee beans.  Pooki’s Mahi’s Kona coffee manufacturing partner adds the artificial flavor of toasted coconut to the natural flavors of Kona coffee blended with into the Central American and South American coffee beans.  The final packout, pod single serve cup and FAI inspections occur in mainland USA in a BRC certified manufacturing facility.
